Saying Goodbye

Christopher William LaCourciere

Dec 22, 1982 - May 30, 2024

(Pulled from my gofundmepage) It's OK to not be OK - but there will come a time when you are just tired of being not OK. Tired of always being incredibly sad on the inside while seemingly so happy on the outside. Tired of always telling people you are doing OK. Chris was not OK and he was tired of not being OK. I can only hope that he has found the peace that he has always been searching for.

This is Shannan Tyndall, I am fundraising for my brother, Christopher William LaCourciere. Chris took his own life in the early hours of Thursday, May 30th. He drove from his home in Wendell, NC to Carolina Beach so he could take his last breaths breathing in the salty ocean air with his feet in the sand. My brother loved the beach. A few years ago we took a family trip to Sunset Beach and he and I took many walks on the beach taking in the beautiful sunrise, looking for sand dollars watching Ben chase the birds.

While my brother had a huge, kind heart, a brilliant mind and was such a skilled woodworker, he also had a troubled mind and heart. He didn't always make the best decisions, then would make worse decisions trying to fix the bad ones he already made. He was way too smart for his own good.

My brother wasn't one to talk about his mental struggles, even when his sisters would prod and try to guilt trip him into it. He always kept his cards close to the vest. He had a unique style which matched the incredible handmade, rustic wood pieces he would create. He built so many beautiful pieces, I was so jealous of his talent and attention to detail.

Chris was not always practical however. He did not have life insurance and left many pieces to pick up after his death. Unfortunately, many expensive pieces to pick up. We are hoping to be able to get assistance to pay for his final expenses as well as help to tie up all of the loose ends he left open. Anything left over will go to his children. If you are able to contribute, wonderful. If not, we appreciate your thoughts and prayers for our family and would love for you to share a story about our brother. It would be great to create a book for his nieces, nephews and children.

Thank you deeply -
