It’s OKAY not to be OKAY
Our brother took his own life at 41…follow our suicide survivor grief journey
What the other side of suicide looks like.. from the ones left devastated but still have to pick up all the messy pieces
Our brother, Christopher William LaCourciere, took his life on May 29, 2024. He drove two and a half hours to Carolina Beach with his wife and 2 adult German Shepherds leaving their 15 year old daughter, 6 eight week old puppies, 3 cats and 4 two weeks old chicks at their home in Wendell, NC.
After he sent cryptic texts to our younger sister, December, we desperately tried to locate them. December was face-timing his wife while I (Shannan) was on the phone with police. His wife refused to help and evaded questions while I provided police with as much information about them as possible.
Our brother was found at 11:52pm at lifeguard tower 11 by beach patrol. He hanged himself.
Check out our blog to follow our grief journey and attempt to organize the chaos left behind.
May 29, 2024 - Goodnight Chris
Let’s go back to the night Chris left us….
Day 67: You’re the weeds in my garden
Written by December Bowles
I broke down yesterday. I cried sitting on a public sidewalk, like a toddler, in front of god & everybody. For you.
A Happy Heart can also be a Sad Heart
I think my brother got too caught up in chasing the idea of happy rather than just stopping to be happy. He never understood what contentment was and thought “things” would produce his happy.
